5/14/09
Palisades defeats Granada Hills 26 1/2 to 3 to capture the CIF - LA City Team Championship!

Today at Balboa Park the top seeded Dolphins captured their 27th City Title since 1962 ( a total of 47 titles including both the Boys and Girls Tennis Teams). Pali won by the largest margin in City history since the roundrobin format was adopted in the mid-1980s. Pali swept all 16 singles sets and seven of the nine doubles sets. Pali raced out to a 21 - 0 lead before the Highlanders won their first set. In the three rounds of the playoffs Pali surrendered only 7 1/2 points while winning 81 points. This was Coach Bud Kling's 31st City Title, the most in the history of the LA City Section.

Earlier in the season the team captured the Division II Championship for the 2nd consecutive year at the California High School Tennis Classic held in Fresno and Clovis.

Playing singles for Pali were : senior Justin Atlan, sophomores Oliver Thornton and Max Licona, and junior Kyung Choi. Doubles players were : seniors  Jeremy Shore, Che Borja, and Spencer Lewin, junior Kramer Waltke, and freshmen Brandon Clark and Spencer Pekar.

With the loss of four senior starters but an incoming class that includes four highly ranked juniors, the Dolphins will continue to be one of the top teams in Southern California for  the next few years.
